Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg and vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Fold in diced apples and any optional add-ins like nuts or caramel bits.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
- Cool a few minutes on the sheet, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Optional: Dust cooled cookies with powdered sugar.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
