Description

Refreshing Grape Juice Ice Cream is a vibrant, purple-hued treat that combines nostalgic grape juice flavor with creamy homemade ice cream texture. A delightful frozen dessert for summer or anytime you crave something unique and cooling!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups 100% grape juice (for reduction)
  • 6 large egg yolks
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt
  • For no-churn version:
  • 1½ cups 100% grape juice (for reduction)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Simmer grape juice until reduced (¾ cup for traditional, ½ cup for no-churn). Cool completely.
  2. For traditional method: Heat cream and milk in saucepan until steaming. Whisk yolks and sugar, temper with hot mixture, cook custard until 170°F, strain.
  3. Stir in cooled grape reduction, vanilla, lemon juice, and salt. Chill at least 4 hours.
  4. Churn in ice cream maker 20–25 minutes. Freeze 2+ hours before serving.
  5. For no-churn method: Whip cream to soft peaks. In separate bowl, combine condensed milk, reduced grape juice, vanilla, lemon juice, and salt.
  6. Fold whipped cream into grape mixture in three additions. Pour into container and freeze 6+ hours.

Notes

Use high-quality 100% grape juice for best results. Always reduce the juice to concentrate flavor and minimize iciness. Add a splash of lemon juice to brighten taste and balance sweetness.
