  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (optional)

  • 1/4 cup freeze-dried strawberries, crushed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8×8 or 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Macerate chopped strawberries with 2 tablespoons sugar for 20 minutes, then drain and toss with 1 tablespoon flour.
  3. Melt chocolate and butter in a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl. Stir until smooth and cool for 5 minutes.
  4. Whisk in granulated sugar, then add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Fold into the chocolate mixture until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in two-thirds of the floured strawberries and chocolate chips (if using).
  7. Spread batter evenly in pan. Swirl strawberry jam on top and scatter remaining strawberries.
  8. Bake 35–40 minutes (8×8) or 30–35 minutes (9×9) until edges pull away and a toothpick comes out with fudgy crumbs.
  9. Cool completely before cutting. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
