- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips or chunks
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans or use baking spray.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, beat mayonnaise, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir until just combined. Do not overmix. Fold in the chocolate chips or chunks.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Frost the top of one cake layer, then place the second layer on top. Frost the top and sides evenly.
- Finish with cocoa powder, ganache drizzle, or chocolate shavings if desired.
