Ingredients
  

  • 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced (about 6 cups)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8x8-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Toss well to coat evenly.
  3. Spread the apple mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and melted butter. Stir until mixture forms a crumbly texture.
  5. Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples.
  6. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the apples are tender and bubbling.
  7. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving warm with vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, mix different apple varieties like Granny Smith and Honeycrisp. Add chopped pecans or walnuts for a crunchy twist. You can also prepare it ahead of time and reheat before serving. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream for the perfect finishing touch.
