Equipment

  • small bowl
  • whisk
  • Glass or shaker
  • spoon
  • Tall glass
  • Blender (optional)

Method

  1. Make the Chocolate Base: In a small bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, and hot water until smooth and creamy. The mixture should be thick and glossy.
  2. Combine Coffee and Chocolate: In a separate glass or shaker, pour in the cooled coffee and the chocolate base. Stir well until the chocolate is fully incorporated into the coffee.
  3. Add Milk and Cream: Pour in the milk and heavy cream. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Add Vanilla Extract: Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Add Ice: Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
  6. Pour and Enjoy: Pour the coffee mixture over the ice. Give it a final stir, and then add your favorite toppings.
  7. Optional: Blend for extra creaminess! For a super-smooth, frappe-like texture, add all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.

Notes

For the best flavor, use high-quality coffee and cocoa powder. Adjust the sweetness to your liking. Cool the coffee completely before adding it to the ice to prevent melting. Get creative with toppings! Store any leftover mocha (without ice) in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Try variations like Peppermint Mocha by adding peppermint extract or Salted Caramel Mocha by adding caramel sauce and sea salt.
