- Pat the chicken dry with paper towels to help the sauce adhere better.
- Mix smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Rub evenly over chicken.
- Place chicken into the crockpot.
- Pour BBQ sauce and apple cider vinegar over the chicken. Add brown sugar if using. Stir to coat.
- Cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours until fully cooked and tender.
- Shred chicken with two forks.
- Return shredded chicken to crockpot and stir into sauce. Let sit 10 minutes to soak up flavor.
- Serve on buns, rice, salad, or sweet potatoes. Enjoy!
Notes
Use thighs for juicier results, or breasts for a leaner dish. Add chopped onions or bell peppers for extra depth. Make it healthier with low-sugar BBQ sauce, or spicier with cayenne or hot sauce. Great for sandwiches, bowls, or salads!
