Ingredients

  • Ice, for serving
  • Fresh strawberry slices and mint sprigs, for garnish

Equipment

  • High-powered blender
  • Fine-mesh sieve or strainer
  • Large pitcher or bowl
  • knife
  • Cutting board
  • Spoon or spatula
  • measuring cups and spoons
  • Serving glasses

Method

  1. First, prepare the strawberries. After rinsing and hulling, slice any large berries in half or quarters to ensure they blend easily.
  2. Place the prepared strawberries, cold water, and granulated sugar into a high-powered blender. Blend on high for 45-60 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth and pureed.
  3. For an exceptionally silky texture, pour the strawberry puree through a fine-mesh sieve set over a large pitcher. Use the back of a spoon to press the liquid through, leaving the seeds behind. This step is optional but recommended.
  4. Pour the strained (or unstrained) strawberry puree back into the blender. Add the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and fresh lime juice.
  5. Blend on medium speed for just 20-30 seconds, only until everything is fully combined. Avoid over-blending to prevent it from becoming too frothy.
  6. Serve immediately over glasses filled with plenty of ice. Alternatively, chill the pitcher in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving for the most refreshing experience. Garnish with a fresh strawberry slice on the rim and a sprig of mint.

Notes

For the best flavor, use the ripest, in-season strawberries you can find. Freshly squeezed lime juice is crucial for balancing the sweetness; do not substitute with bottled juice. For a dairy-free version, use sweetened condensed coconut milk and full-fat canned coconut milk. To enhance the flavor, consider adding 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract or a tiny splash of rosewater. Always serve this drink ice-cold to maximize its refreshing quality.
