Method
- First, prepare the strawberries. After rinsing and hulling, slice any large berries in half or quarters to ensure they blend easily.
- Place the prepared strawberries, cold water, and granulated sugar into a high-powered blender. Blend on high for 45-60 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth and pureed.
- For an exceptionally silky texture, pour the strawberry puree through a fine-mesh sieve set over a large pitcher. Use the back of a spoon to press the liquid through, leaving the seeds behind. This step is optional but recommended.
- Pour the strained (or unstrained) strawberry puree back into the blender. Add the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and fresh lime juice.
- Blend on medium speed for just 20-30 seconds, only until everything is fully combined. Avoid over-blending to prevent it from becoming too frothy.
- Serve immediately over glasses filled with plenty of ice. Alternatively, chill the pitcher in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving for the most refreshing experience. Garnish with a fresh strawberry slice on the rim and a sprig of mint.
Notes
For the best flavor, use the ripest, in-season strawberries you can find. Freshly squeezed lime juice is crucial for balancing the sweetness; do not substitute with bottled juice. For a dairy-free version, use sweetened condensed coconut milk and full-fat canned coconut milk. To enhance the flavor, consider adding 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract or a tiny splash of rosewater. Always serve this drink ice-cold to maximize its refreshing quality.
