Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup coffee beans medium to dark roast
  • 1 cup water or 1/2 cup if brewing over ice
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1/2 cup milk or milk alternative whole milk, almond milk, oat milk, soy milk
  • 1-2 tablespoons simple syrup, honey, agave, or sweetened condensed milk to taste
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional garnishes: whipped cream, chocolate shavings, caramel drizzle, cinnamon, nutmeg, sprinkles, sprig of mint, tiny paper umbrella

Method
 

  1. Brew coffee at double strength: Use twice the amount of coffee grounds you normally would for the same amount of water.
  2. Cool the coffee using your preferred method: Brew directly over ice, flash chill in a shaker with ice for 30 seconds, or let it cool to room temperature and refrigerate for at least an hour.
  3. Fill a cute glass with ice.
  4. Pour coffee into the glass, filling it about halfway.
  5. Add milk or milk alternative to taste, topping off the glass.
  6. Sweeten to taste with simple syrup, honey, agave, or sweetened condensed milk, starting with a small amount and adjusting to your liking.
  7. Add a tiny pinch of salt.
  8. Stir gently to combine the ingredients.
  9. Garnish with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, caramel drizzle, cinnamon, nutmeg, sprinkles, a sprig of mint, or a tiny paper umbrella, if desired.
  10. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

For a non-watery iced coffee, use coffee ice cubes made from frozen leftover coffee. You can also brew a large batch of coffee concentrate and store it in the refrigerator for up to a week. Experiment with flavors by adding vanilla extract, almond extract, or orange zest. Frothing the milk before adding it will create a more luxurious experience. Store leftover iced coffee in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, although the flavor may diminish slightly over time.
