- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Break it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the ground beef. Cook until the onion is softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked ground beef mixture, drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, and 1/2 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If desired, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread evenly.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese and 1 cup of French fried onions over the casserole.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the cheese is melted and golden brown, and the French fried onions are crispy.
- Let the casserole stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
For best results, drain the green beans thoroughly to prevent a watery casserole. You can prepare the casserole ahead of time and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours before baking. Add other vegetables like sliced mushrooms or corn for added flavor and nutrition. Leftover casserole can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
