Method
- Prepare the Watermelon: Cut the watermelon into cubes, remove any seeds, and spread the cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Freeze the Watermelon: Freeze the watermelon cubes for at least 2 hours, or until solid.
- Combine Ingredients in Blender: Add the frozen watermelon, rum (or your chosen substitute), lime juice, simple syrup, and water to the blender.
- Blend Until Smooth: Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and slushy.
- Adjust Consistency: If the mixture is too thick, add a little more water, one tablespoon at a time. If it's not thick enough, add a handful of ice and blend again.
- Taste and Adjust: Give the daiquiri a taste and adjust the sweetness or tartness to your liking. Add more simple syrup for sweetness or more lime juice for tartness.
- Pour and Garnish: Pour the frozen watermelon daiquiri into chilled glasses.
- Garnish: Garnish with a lime wedge or a watermelon slice.
- Serve Immediately: Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
Notes
For a non-alcoholic version, substitute the rum with watermelon juice, coconut water, or ginger ale. To prevent a watery daiquiri, avoid over-blending. Chill your glasses in the freezer for a few minutes before serving to keep the daiquiri colder longer. Leftovers can be stored in the freezer, but may lose some texture; re-blend with a little water or lime juice before serving.
