  • 1 ½ cups French fried onions, divided
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  4. Pour the mixture into a greased 1 ½-quart casserole dish.
  5. Drizzle the melted butter over the top.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of French fried onions evenly over the casserole. Add the shredded cheddar cheese if using.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the French fried onions are golden brown.
  8. Let stand for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Don't overcook the green beans, as they are already cooked. Use good quality French fried onions for the best flavor and texture. For a richer flavor, sauté some sliced mushrooms in butter before adding them to the casserole.
