- Soften the cream cheese: Take the cream cheese out of the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before you plan to make the appetizer.
- Whip the cream cheese: In a mixing bowl, whip the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until it is light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
- Incorporate the pepper jelly: Gently fold in the pepper jelly until it is evenly distributed. Avoid overmixing.
- Refrigerate: Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours.
- Serve: Transfer the mixture to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped green onions or chives, if desired. Serve with crackers or baguette slices.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce to the cream cheese mixture. For a sweeter flavor, sprinkle with brown sugar or drizzle with honey. Everything bagel seasoning also works well as a topping. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
