  • 1 cup Marinara sauce
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Provolone cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup Pepperoni, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup Mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/4 cup Bell peppers, diced
  • 1/4 cup Olives, sliced
  • 1/4 cup Onions, diced
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh basil, chopped
  • All-purpose flour, for dusting

Equipment

  • Baking sheet or Muffin tin
  • Rolling Pin
  • Sharp knife
  • Mixing bowls
  • measuring cups and spoons
  • Oven
  • Pizza cutter (optional)
  • Lightly floured surface

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. If using store-bought dough, let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a large rectangle, about 1/8 inch thick.
  4. Evenly spread the marinara sauce over the dough, leaving a small border.
  5. Sprinkle mozzarella, provolone, and parmesan cheese over the sauce.
  6. Arrange pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, olives, and onions over the cheese.
  7. Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log.
  8. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 1-inch thick rounds.
  9. Place the pizza roses cut-side up in a greased muffin tin or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the roses are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Let the roses cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh basil.

Notes

Don't overwork the dough. Use enough flour to prevent sticking. Avoid overloading with toppings. You can use different sauces and cheeses to create unique flavor combinations. For a vegetarian option, load up on veggies. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-10 minutes or in the microwave. Baking the roses in a muffin tin helps them maintain their shape.
