- Place chicken breasts or thighs into the crockpot.
- Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, brown sugar, salt, and pepper over the chicken.
- Pour barbecue sauce over the seasoned chicken, coating evenly.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
- Shred the chicken using two forks directly in the crockpot.
- If desired, add chicken broth or water to adjust sauce consistency. Stir well to combine.
- Serve warm on buns, over rice, or in salads.
Notes
Use boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs for best texture. For a saucier finish, add a splash of chicken broth at the end. Leftovers keep well in the fridge for 4 days or freeze beautifully for meal prep.
