Ingredients

  • 1 fresh lime, cut into wedges
  • 2-3 large marshmallows, for garnish
  • Pebble ice, to fill the glass

Equipment

  • Tall serving glass
  • Heat-safe skewer
  • Kitchen torch (or broiler)
  • Measuring spoons
  • Measuring cup
  • Long spoon or straw
  • knife
  • Cutting board

Method

  1. Toast the Garnish: Thread 2-3 large marshmallows onto a heat-safe skewer. Using a kitchen torch, gas stovetop, or oven broiler, carefully toast the marshmallows until golden brown and slightly blistered. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Creamy Base: In a tall, chilled serving glass, add the toasted marshmallow syrup. Pour the full-fat coconut cream on top and give them a gentle stir at the bottom of the glass to combine.
  3. Assemble the Soda: Fill the glass completely to the brim with pebble ice. Slowly pour the chilled cola over the ice, tilting the glass and pouring down the side to preserve carbonation.
  4. Add Finishing Touches: Squeeze a fresh lime wedge generously over the top of the drink. Garnish with the skewer of toasted marshmallows. Stir gently with a long spoon or straw just before drinking to swirl the cream into the cola.

Notes

For the best experience, ensure all your ingredients (cola, cream) and even the serving glass are thoroughly chilled beforehand. The order of assembly is key to achieving the beautiful layered look. This drink is best served immediately to enjoy peak fizziness. For variations, try using Dr. Pepper or Root Beer instead of cola, or swap coconut cream for heavy cream. A splash of dark rum or coffee liqueur can be added for an adult version.
