Ingredients

  • 4 cups cubed seedless watermelon chilled
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt optional
  • 1/2 cup milk dairy or non-dairy
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 5-6 fresh mint leaves
  • Ice cubes optional
  • Optional: small piece of ginger
  • Optional: pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Optional: handful of spinach

Equipment

  • blender
  • knife
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Glasses for serving

Method

  1. Prep the Watermelon: Cut the watermelon into cubes, removing any seeds. Chill the watermelon beforehand for a more refreshing smoothie.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Add the cubed watermelon, Greek yogurt (if using), milk, lime juice, and mint leaves to a blender.
  3. Blend Away!: Blend on high speed until completely smooth. Ensure there are no chunks.
  4. Adjust Consistency: If the smoothie is too thick, add a little more milk. If it's not cold enough, add a few ice cubes and blend again.
  5. Taste and Adjust: Taste the smoothie and add more lime juice for a tangier flavor or more mint for extra freshness.
  6. Serve Immediately: Pour the smoothie into glasses and garnish with a sprig of fresh mint or a small wedge of watermelon. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

For the best flavor, use a ripe, heavy watermelon with a creamy yellow spot. Don't be afraid to experiment with add-ins like berries or protein powder. Using chilled ingredients will ensure a super refreshing smoothie. Store leftover smoothie in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, but it's best enjoyed fresh. If the smoothie separates, stir well before serving.
